Stoophunt vs StreetEasy: what is different?
StreetEasy is the default NYC rental site — polished listings, broker workflows, and strong photo standards. Stoophunt is not trying to replace StreetEasy; it sits beside it and adds the channels StreetEasy does not cover.
What StreetEasy does well
Whole apartments, clear data fields, neighborhood maps, and broker contact flows. If you want a 1BR in a doorman building with a fee, StreetEasy is still the catalog.
Stoophunt includes StreetEasy listings on the same board as other sources.
What StreetEasy does not show
Facebook group posts, many sublets, roommate replacements, and Craigslist finds. Those are often where no-fee and room deals start.
StreetEasy also cannot filter your Facebook scroll — each group is its own timeline.
When to use both
Use Stoophunt as the daily scan: one filter set, every source, alerts when something new fits. Tap through to StreetEasy or Facebook to message and tour.
If you only use one site today, you are probably missing half the market. Search "Stoophunt" on Google if you came from TikTok without a link.
