Privacy Policy
Stoophunt (“we”, “us”) runs stoophunt.com, a board of NYC housing listings gathered from public posts, plus a paid Hunt Pass for alerts and saved searches. This policy explains what we collect and why.
Who we are
Stoophunt is a United States consumer product. We are not a real-estate broker, landlord, or property manager. Contact: support@stoophunt.com.
What we collect
- Account. Email address, name if you give one, and a password hash if you use email sign-in. If you use Google, we receive the email and basic profile Google shares with us.
- Hunt. Filters, saved searches / alerts, listings you save, and which posts you open from Stoophunt.
- Billing. Hunt Pass is charged by Stripe. We store Stripe customer and subscription IDs, pass dates, and amounts. We do not store full card numbers.
- Technical. Session cookies needed to keep you signed in, basic request logs (IP, user agent, time), and error reports on our host (Cloudflare).
- Source requests. If you suggest another listing source, we keep the text you send and an optional email.
We do not require a home address to use the board. We do not sell personal information.
How we use it
- Run the board, sign-in, Hunt Pass, and daily alert emails.
- Prevent abuse, debug outages, and keep billing honest (one 24-hour trial per account).
- Reply when you write support@stoophunt.com.
We do not use your data for advertising networks or sell it to data brokers.
Who we share it with
Processors that help us run the product:
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, and Email Routing for support@stoophunt.com.
- Stripe — payments and the customer billing portal. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
- Resend — magic-link and alert emails.
- Google — only if you tap Continue with Google. See Google’s privacy policy.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect people from fraud or harm. If we ever sell or merge the product, account data would transfer with it under this policy or a successor notice.
Listing text and photos come from third-party public posts (Facebook groups, Craigslist, and other housing sites). We are not those companies and are not affiliated with Meta.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar storage so you stay signed in and so checkout can finish. We do not run advertising cookies or a third-party ad pixel. You can block cookies in your browser; the board will ask you to sign in again.
How long we keep it
Account, alerts, and pass records stay until you ask us to delete the account, or until we close the product. Server logs are kept only as long as needed to operate and secure the site. Stripe keeps payment records under its own rules and the law.
Your choices
- Edit alerts and cancel Hunt Pass in the product (Manage subscription).
- Email support@stoophunt.com to access, correct, or delete your account. We will ask enough to confirm it is you.
- You can stop alert mail with the links in those emails or by deleting the alert.
If you are in California, you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To use these rights, write support@stoophunt.com.
Children
Stoophunt is for people 18 or older who are looking for housing. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security and where data lives
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. No method of transmission is perfectly secure. Do not send card numbers or government IDs to our support inbox.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update this page and the effective date. Keep using Stoophunt after that date means you accept the revised policy.
